Once a year, it's time for the members of the chair of genome research to leave the sacred halls of wisdom for encounters of unusual tasks and missions far away from the lab and every day's work. After going on a Archery 2005, a complete new challenge had to be found.

As it turned out, this challenge was a visit of the training ground of the local archery club. It was no question that this trip had to be well-planned beforehand - the organising committee did an excellent job! Equipment had to be provided and the transport also had to be organised.

fter fulfilling these logistic duties, the trip could start early in the morning and the genome research team headed for the place of action...

Upon arrival, familiarizing with the location started immediately. While some were busy with investigating the ground and occupying the archery equipment ...

... others took care of establishing the necessary infrastructure.

Of course, the surrounding environment had to be discovered, too. Being well prepaired for activities like these paid off. The catering could easily be transported in suited means of transportation like the trolley.

Though some stops for refreshment and orientation were made, the destination of the exploration trip ? the biological station Senne ? was found without any problems.

Back on the shooting range, it was time to measure everyone‘s archery skill competition. Away from any thoughts of rivalry, a lab-internal competition was carried out in different range and difficulty levels.

Needless to say, something like this could only be carried out under competent supervision and had to be planned in detail. After determining the exceptionally talented on the one hand and the ones especially in need of help on the other, the group gathered in unity again.

Naturally, nourishment in form of recreating drinks and grilled meat was also available, so when evening came, the group could again sit together saturated. Even the weather was exceptionally fine, so conversation was held until late in the night.

The great spirit among all was furthermore fanned by the usage of a stylish water pipe further encouraging communication.

Finally, a great day came to an end when most people headed home, although some brave researchers stayed out in the woods to spend the night in the nature on the archery field...
