Some key events in the history of the Chair of Genome Research at Bielefeld University

  • 2013-09-17: the Genome Research group organises the CeBiTec "Sommerfest" to celebrate "10 years Plant Genome Research" at Bielefeld University, and the group surprises BW with a funny present
  • 2010 - 2012: Bernd Weisshaar served as Dean of the Faculty of Biology at Bielefeld University
  • 2008 - 2010: Bernd Weisshaar served as Vice-Dean ("Prodekan") of the Faculty of Biology at Bielefeld University
  • 2007-01-01: the GABI-Kat project has been transferred to Bielefeld University
  • June 2007: the group moved to the new labs in the new building (Zahn G, "Laborgeb√§ude CeBiTec", floor G0). Since then, all labs and offices are fairly close to each other. This simplifies collaborative work within the group and allows an easier access to the technical infrastructure, which is centralised in the building.
  • 2005-01-12: official opening of the new greenhause (S1) of the Faculty of Biology
  • 2004-11-18: a sort of "lab-warming party" took place in E01 to celebrate the completion of the renovation of the lab space for the Genome Research group
  • July 2004: the new rooms in E02 as transient lab space for the group are ready
  • February 2004: the main phase of establishing the team is finished. The Chair has a secretary, a senior scientist and a number of coworkers
  • 2003-02-13: foundation of the Institute of Genome Research as 2nd institute within the CeBiTec (Center for Biotechnology), Speaker: Bernd Weisshaar (2003 - 2010)
  • 2003-02-13: Bernd Weisshaar's inaugural lecture with the title "Genomforschung bei Pflanzen: Das Modellsystem Ackerschmalwand (Arabidopsis thaliana)"
  • February 2003: foundation of the Chair of Genome Research in the context of the DFG program "Bioinformatics" and the Bielefeld initiative on "Bioinformatics and Genome Research"
